I LOVE THE BEATLES

My journey to the international Beatle's fan club convention, London, and the story of that day told in a short fan zine.

I Love Flower Arranging (well I don't but some people do)

On  a sunny Thursday April evening I walked down the road to Tyndale Baptist church, in Bristol. I waited apprehensively in the church hall for the members of the flower arranging society meeting i had come to observe. At seven thirty the eager members all arrived and i was welcomed into the group. enthusiasm was rife, especially for new members to join, i was hounded all evening as they were especially looking for younger members to join.  However the evening was interesting i watched demonstrations and generally observed people doing something they had a genuine passion for, and that they group together to enjoy. I created a small publication documenting my time there.

seventy seven scarves

Work for my book seventy seven scarves begins... just photos for now.

I own seventy seven scarves. When I counted I was shocked. But I just love them so much. In discovering something I was passionate about I decided it was about time to create some work solely about my passion and appreciation so the book seventy seven scarves was born.

Tea time in the Park

Cake meeting Number 3

Yesterday 22/04/2009 was the third official cake appreciation society meeting. Due to the lovely sunny weather we were able to enjoy a tea time picnic in the park. Due to it being Dans birthday the theme of the meeting was Birthday cake.

There were a lot of cakes but we did actually manage to eat most of them this time, maybe this was due to the fact that we were outside and the sun was shining but WHO KNOWS.

As well as cake eating various activities took place including Frisbee playing, rugby ball kicking, hula hooping, and some mild acrobatics. And once again someone was inspired to write a poem which goes as follows:

Cake is wonderful
Cake is sweet
Everyone should eat cake
but only as a treat

If i feel a bit sad i often
think of cake
banana cake, tea cake,
bake, bake , bake!

thank you to Isabella for that!

Work on the next publication - I love cake volume 3 is now underway so look out for updates about that.

Until then keep enjoying your cake!

BRING CAKES!

I LOVE CAKE volumes 1&2

After the first Bristol cake appreciation society meeting I created a small book about the meeting, and continued to do this for the second meeting.

The publications tells the story of the meetings and explains a bit about what happened I made two versions of each black and white and colour. I have also included some images and comments collated from the gatherings. Including a small poem written by somebody on the day:

Cake, cake, cake.
I do love the cake.

Please stuff it
in my face until I,
Shake, shake, shake.

Thanks again to everyone who attended, and details of the next meeting to follow.

Bristol Cake Appreciation Society

Bristol Cake Appreciation society began back in November. The first meeting was held on the 8th of December we had over fifteen attendees and we all ate a lot of cake, the most popular variety of that meeting seemed to be of the fairy cake family, with cup cakes and chocolate mini fairy cakes being the most popular choice.

After the massive sugar high, we left it until February for the second official get together. With February the  10th being the next date. This meeting was even more successful than the last with over 20 guests all bearing sugary delights to devour. Coincidentally eveyones offering seemed to revolve around a chocolate theme, cakes ranged from chocolate brownies to gooey chocolate moose cake right down to the slightly controversial chocolate cheese cake, is it a dessert or a cake? ( a common point of discussion at these meetings).

after the success of the first two meetings I plan to spread the word of Bristol cake appreciation society and am taking my cakes and enthusiasm to the South bank Market Bizarre at the south bank center Bristol on the 4th of April to sell my cakes and spread the word about Bristol Cake Appreciation Society.

The next meeting will be held at cake headquarters sometime in the middle of April details to follow, and I will be hoping to bring new ideas and cake discussions following the societies outing to the market bizarre.
